We wanted to open the house for CouchSurfing but we knew we gotta leverage ourselves too, so Airbnb it is.
Our first experience was quite unique. We were approached by a local called Zack who lives in KL. He opens his space for CouchSurfing but cannot host surfers in his house for it is currently under renovation. Thus, when surfers request his couches – he takes the surfers in and books an Airbnb to host his guests at.
What a very kind act I thought. The travellers would be forever grateful for such kindness. Coz, you know why. You travel a lot too don’t you?
So, basically Zack was the one who guided them and brought them around. But on the last night, we heard Matias playing ukulele and were interested to listen to him live. So we joined them and we all spoke about ourselves, our life aims, our travels and experiences. It was very refreshing for us since the last time we really travelled and exchanged stories with other travellers was half a year ago.
Elena and Matias studied in Germany and that’s where they met. They’ve been travelling for 2 months and their last stop before going back to Matias’s hometown in Argentina is the Olympics in Rio. While Sergio has been travelling for 2 years! He’s a web designer and a photographer who sells his pictures online – that’s how he finances his travel. It also felt good to finally host! All these while we’ve always been surfing only. So yeah
Listening to others peoples’ aims make us want to work harder to live our dream lives too. InshaAllah.
